01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked down an alleyway in Nakano Ward's Nogata, Tottotto is a Japanese dining spot centred on carefully prepared fish. The midday offerings focus on hearty set meals, including a grilled fish tray (Yakizakana-zen) featuring a half-fillet of bunkasaba mackerel, prized for its savoury salt balance and natural fattiness. The Saikyo-miso-marinated Spanish mackerel (sawara) is another favourite, its rich, marinated flesh paired with grated daikon to balance each mouthful of rice.

The lunchtime range continues with an assorted sashimi tray (Sashimi-zen), a seafood rice bowl (Kaisen-don) layered with varied cuts, and the Hana-zen, arranged in the style of a partitioned Shokado bento with sashimi, grilled fish, and tempura. A daily set meal comes with dessert, and guests ordering the sashimi or grilled fish sets also note the inclusion of miso soup, pickles, a small side dish, and a sweet finish.

Come evening, the venue leans into its izakaya character, where seasonal seafood platters and fried bites can be paired with drinks at leisure. Beverage options span house-made fruit liqueurs like umeshu and cassis soda, fresh grape or apple sours, and grape juice sourced from Tochigi's Coco Farm & Winery.

With its quiet, unhurried atmosphere, Tottotto welcomes solo diners comfortably, while evening tables can be booked in advance. QR-code mobile payments including PayPay and Rakuten Pay are accepted at the register.
